Latest reviews of QuickDict Norwegian-English app for iPhone and iPad
Basic functionality and crude interface, but gets the job done
If getting a basic translation of common words in English or Norwegian is what you need, then this app is reasonably priced and gets the job done. The interface is basic and without frills, although the icons at the bottom of the screen are a bit confusing at first, with no help to guide you. You can search, view recent searches, and bookmark words. Also, text (in the definition page only) can be scaled between a few sizes. One of the first things that might be confusing compared to how a traditional language dictionary works, is that there is no separate interface for searching Norwegian words versus English words. They are all mixed together. The app comes with *five* separate dictionaries, (Three Norwegian-English, two English-Norwegian), and it is unclear as to what the difference is between each of them. If you want to search only words in one language, you have to go into the dictionaries configuration page and uncheck the dictionaries that you dont want to search. I like that you do get multiple word possibilities listed for many words (homonyms, etc), although Id prefer a bit more details, definitions, and usage examples, none of which are given. All in all, this is a basic product that appears that it was put together somewhat hastily, but it works fine and definitely gets the job done if you can live without the ability to search one language at a time. At the moment it is probably one of the better options for the $2 asking price.

Not a good return on investment.
